NcStudio machines

G-code for CNC machines running NcStudio

Choose the NcStudio machine in Prakobd and get G-code that opens directly in NcStudio. One .nc file per bit per sheet, with no comments in the file so it opens in every version. Operations are ordered drilling → grooving → through-cutting, with a sequence number in the file name so they run in order. No need to make toolpaths yourself in CAM software. Set the bit, speeds, spindle speed, origin and part tabs in the Export step

What do I get?

Opens directly in NcStudio

The file is written the way NcStudio reads it: header G21 G90 G17 G40 G49 (millimeters), spindle on with M03 S at the set speed, G00 G01 commands, no comments or Thai text, ending with M05 G00 X0 Y0 M30. Default extension .nc, changeable when exporting

Files split by bit, run in number order

If you change bits by hand, you get files split by bit. File names carry a sequence number: change the bit, then run the next file. The part-cutting bit is in the last file so the parts stay held on the sheet until the end.

Built-in nesting

Nests parts on the sheet by their true shape and wood grain direction, tells you how many sheets you need, prints the sheet layout for the machine, and can engrave the part code onto each part.

How to set up the machine is in the documentation

The อ่านก่อน.txt file and the sheet layout state the sheet size, bit, depth and X0 Y0 Z0 position used. Set up the machine accordingly before running

Workflow

  1. Set up your NcStudio machine in Prakobd

In the Export step, choose the NcStudio machine and enter the bit set with T numbers, feed rate, plunge rate, spindle speed and depth per pass. Save it as My machine to reuse

  2. Design and check the sheet nesting

Pick an example or enter your own size. See every sheet in the CNC nesting tab, and the cautions before downloading.

  3. Load the .nc files into NcStudio

Download the production file set or one sheet at a time. Open file number 1 in NcStudio and set X0 Y0 at the bottom-left corner of the sheet and Z0 at the sheet surface (or as the file header says).

  4. Run in file order

Run the files one at a time by number, changing bits as the file names indicate. The last file cuts the parts out of the sheet.

Production file cost from real examples

Designing, viewing in 3D and viewing the nesting are free. You pay credits when you download the production file pack (ZIP), which is charged by the number of sheets and parts in the job.

Who it's for

  • CNC Router machines whose control screen is NcStudio
  • For shops that want ready-to-run G-code without building toolpaths themselves
  • Cabinets, shelves, desks, stage floors and grooved wall panels from plywood, MDF, HMR and Plaswood
  • For 3D relief carving, dedicated CAM software is a better fit

Frequently asked questions

What does the production file cost for NcStudio machines?

Design for free. You pay credits when you download the production file pack (ZIP), charged by the number of sheets and parts in the job. Example: Grid cabinet 9 Bay 107 credits (≈ 214 THB) · Kitchen 2.4 m + stone countertop 308 credits (≈ 616 THB) · Wall panel Upright arch pattern 60 credits (≈ 120 THB)

Can NcStudio open files from Prakobd?

Yes. The file is standard .nc G-code that NcStudio can open. Before running a real job for the first time, we recommend a dry run above the sheet (Z raised) or cutting the free fit test set to check the zero point and axis directions.

If I change bits by hand, can I use several bits?

Yes. The system splits the files by bit. File names carry a sequence number and the bit number; run them in order. The part-cutting bit is in the last file.

What units do the files use?

Millimeters (G21) and absolute coordinates (G90), with 3 decimal places

If your machine needs a different extension, such as .tap or .txt

You can choose the G-code file extension in the Export production files window or in the CNC machine setup in the Export step. The file contents stay the same
