G-code for CNC machines running Mach3 or Mach4

Choose the Mach3 / Mach4 machine in Prakobd and get a .tap file that Mach opens right away. It uses millimeters and absolute coordinates, one program per sheet. At the next bit the machine stops and waits with M0: change the bit, reset Z, then press resume. You also get the nesting, assembly drawing and cut list from the same job

What do I get?

Opens directly in Mach

File header % G21 G90 G91.1 G17 G40 G49 G94 in the form Mach reads. Default extension .tap, changeable when exporting

Change bits by hand

At the next bit the file issues M5 then M0 so the machine stops and waits: change the bit, reset Z, then press Cycle Start. G4 waits for the spindle to reach full speed before plunging

No separate CAM program needed

Toolpaths, tool compensation, ramped plunges, multiple depth passes and dog-bone inside corners are already built into the file.

The whole real job

Besides G-code, you also get the PDF assembly drawing, cut list, part labels and hardware list from the same job.

Can Mach3 open .nc files?

Yes. Mach3 and Mach4 open G-code files with several extensions. The default for the Mach3 machine in Prakobd is .tap, and you can choose another extension when exporting

How do I change bits in the middle of a file?

Files for the Mach3 machine don't use M06 but stop with M0, where Mach always waits: change the bit, reset Z0, then press Cycle Start. Do not move X0 Y0

Do I need to test first?

We recommend a dry run above the sheet, or cutting the free fit test set, before your first job, to check the zero point, axis directions and the joint fit with your real bit.
