CNC router jobs

From job size to ready-to-run G-code, for CNC router owners

Prakobd turns a cabinet, shelf or desk of any size into a job ready to cut on a CNC router. It nests parts onto sheets by true shape and grain direction, tells you the number of sheets, and outputs G-code for your machine's controller, such as NcStudio, DSP, Mach3, GRBL, Syntec and LNC ATC, plus layered DXF and SVG (CUT-OUT CUT-IN POCKET DRILL) for other CAM software. Inside corners get dog-bone or T-bone relief for the bit, and you can download the whole set or one sheet at a time

What do I get?

15.9% fewer sheets (measured)

Measured on the 183 CNC examples in Prakobd: true-shape nesting uses 650 sheets versus 773 when parts are laid in rows the way a sheet is marked out by hand, and Prakobd always keeps whichever layout uses fewer sheets.

Uses your offcuts first

Keep your offcuts in the offcut inventory. Prakobd nests parts on offcuts of the same board and thickness before opening a new sheet, parts cut from offcuts cost no credits (up to half of the job), and "Cutting done" keeps what is left as new offcuts.

Nest and check every sheet before downloading

Parts are placed on the sheet in their real shapes, with wood grain direction locked. It shows the number of sheets and the percentage of area used. Viewing the nesting is free, and you can download DXF, SVG or G-code for just the sheets you need.

G-code for your machine

Set the bit set, feed rate, spindle speed, depth per pass, hold-downs and the zero point. On an ATC machine you get one program per sheet; on a machine that changes bits itself, G-code is split into a separate file per bit.

Drilling, grooving and cutting, already in order

The files are ordered drill → groove → cut through, and the program picks the right bit for drilling and grooving. Parts that need grooving on the back get a separate file with the sheet flipped

Joints that fit exactly

6 joint types, inside-corner relief with dog-bone or T-bone, loose or tight fit settings, and a free fit test kit to cut a trial with your real bit and wood

Workflow

  1. Set up the shop's machine and bits

Add the router bit and material in the Material step, then set up the CNC machine in the Export step: bit set, speeds, origin and machine/controller (NcStudio, DSP, Mach3, GRBL, Syntec, LNC ATC …) with file extension. Save the material, thickness, bit and fit values as a profile to reuse

  2. Design or choose an example

Choose from 209 ready-made examples or enter your own size. Enter the wood thickness measured with calipers and the real sheet size, such as 1220×2440 mm.

  3. Check the nesting

See how it's made and the file cost for each design at

  4. Download the files and set up the machine from the file header

Download the production file pack (ZIP) or individual files, set X0 Y0 and Z0 to match the G-code file header, print the sheet layout plan and take it to the machine, then run in order

Production file cost from real examples

Designing, viewing in 3D and viewing the nesting are free. You pay credits when you download the production file pack (ZIP), which is charged by the number of sheets and parts in the job.

Who it's for

  • CNC shops that cut furniture from plywood, MDF, HMR or PVC foam board
  • ATC or auto tool-change machine owners who want ready-to-run G-code
  • Shops that want ready-made products to offer for cutting, such as shelves, grooved wall panels and stage platforms
  • 3D relief carving or V-carving free-form patterns are better done in specialist CAM software.

Frequently asked questions

What does the production file cost for CNC router jobs?

Design for free. You pay credits when you download the production file pack (ZIP), charged by the number of sheets and parts in the job. Example: Grid cabinet 9 Bay 107 credits (≈ 214 THB) · Wall panel Upright arch pattern 60 credits (≈ 120 THB) · Kitchen 2.4 m + stone countertop 308 credits (≈ 616 THB)

Which CNC machines can the G-code run on?

Choose from 12 file formats matching your controller, such as NcStudio, DSP, Mach3, GRBL, Syntec and LNC ATC. Each one writes the file header, tool change commands and extension the way that machine reads them. If your machine uses another format, take the layered DXF or SVG and make the toolpaths in the machine's CAM software

Where does G-code set the 0 point

Defaults: X0 Y0 is the bottom-left corner of the sheet and Z0 is the top surface of the sheet. You can change it to the table surface in the CNC machine setup at the export step. The G-code header always states the values actually used.

What does the software do if a screw hole is smaller than the bits I have?

If the bit set has a small enough bit, the software uses it to drill the hole. If not, it drills only a locating point and the file carries a note to finish the hole with a hand drill

Can I cut the same job several times?

Yes. Set the number of sets in the export step. Cut sheets, the cut list, labels and the hardware purchase list count all sets together, while the assembly drawing and assembly steps are for 1 set
