Laser jobs

Laser cut files that assemble perfectly, for laser owners

Prakobd designs laser work from dimensions: finger-jointed boxes, trays, acrylic boxes and display cabinets, single-sheet folded acrylic, and folding corrugated board or PP board display shelves. Enter the material thickness and the beam kerf and the software allows for it in the lines. You get SVG and DXF files split into cut, engrave and fold layers that open in LightBurn, RDWorks or your machine's own software. There are 9 examples in the box and tray category, 23 in the acrylic cabinet category, and a fit test kit to cut a trial piece first

What do I get?

Kerf is already built into the lines

Set kerf at the material step. The program builds it into the cut lines so the machine cuts right on the line with no double compensation. Set the fit looser or tighter, and cut the fit test kit to find the setting that fits.

Finger joints and tabs

Finger joints, tabs, tabs with wedge locks, half-lap joints and glued butt joints. Change the box size and the fingers and slots recalculate completely, with no redrawing

Butt-jointed and folded acrylic

Clear acrylic boxes, donation boxes, model display cases, display shelves, and single-sheet fold-up designs with a separate BEND layer that is not cut. The cut list gives the fold angles.

Folding corrugated board and PP board

Glue-free fold-and-slot POP display shelves, with crease lines in the BEND layer and 3 mm print bleed in the PRINT layer for parts that need printing.

Workflow

  1. Set materials and kerf

Choose acrylic, PP board, foam board or paper, enter the measured thickness and the beam kerf, then save it as a profile to reuse.

  2. Cut the fit test kit

Download the free fit test kit after signing in, cut it from the same material as the real job, and pick the fit value that assembles snugly

  3. Choose an example and enter the size

Start with a gift box, divided tray, acrylic display case or folded display stand, then adjust the size, joints and cut-outs.

  4. Download SVG or DXF to cut

Open the file in LightBurn, RDWorks or your machine's software. Set power and speed per cut and engrave layer, and switch off the BEND layer so it is not cut.

Who it's for

  • Laser shops that cut acrylic, boxes and giveaway items
  • Shops that make corrugated board or PP board display shelves for product brands
  • People who cut finger-joint boxes and can't assemble them because of kerf
  • Engraving images or carving graphic patterns on the surface of the workpiece is better done in the laser machine's software or a graphics program directly.

Frequently asked questions

What does the production file cost for Laser jobs?

Design for free. You pay credits when you download the production file pack (ZIP), charged by the number of sheets and parts in the job. Example: gift box 59 credits (≈ 118 THB) · Clear acrylic display case, 3 tiers 62 credits (≈ 124 THB) · POP display shelf, straight, folding PP board 59 credits (≈ 118 THB)

Do I need to compensate for kerf on a laser cutter?

No. Prakobd already allows for kerf in the lines. Set the beam's kerf in the material step, then let the machine cut on the line without compensating again

What materials can laser jobs use?

Acrylic, PP board, foam board, paper and thin wood. Set the thickness and kerf to match the real material, then cut a fit test kit before the real job.

It's loose or wobbly after assembly. What should I do?

Check the real material thickness, then reduce the fit value in steps of 0.1 mm. Also check that kerf compensation is not set a second time in the machine software, because Prakobd already allows for it in the lines.

How do I use lines on the BEND layer?

It is a fold position marker, not a cut line. For acrylic, switch this layer off and fold it on an acrylic bending machine to the angles in the cut list. For corrugated or PP board, use it as a fold score line.
